Department of Forensic Medicine
Department of Forensic Medicine deals with medical aspects of law as well as legal aspects of medical practice. Mortuary, housed in a separate block next to the hospital building comprises of adequate space with modern facilities for conducting postmortems.

TEACHING
The department has been rendering services in the form of teaching to M.B.,B.S., students of 3rd semester & 4th semester this year. The department has also been extending medico-legal training to the interns during their compulsory Rotatory internship

RESEARCH
Research facility is available in the department with all necessary equipments

 SERVICES
'Embalming' of dead bodies as and when required, is being conducted in mortuary.

The department also provides expert consultation with the Accident and Emergency Department and expert opinion is being extended to various investigating agencies .

Government of Puducherry has permitted to this institute to conduct medico-legal Autopsy after taking into consideration the availability of fully qualified & experienced Doctors in the field of legal autopsy together with supporting staff and also the availability of all required infrastructure facilities in the Department of Forensic Medicine.
