Laboratory Services

The laboratory services are available round the clock. The services include Biochemistry Pathology, Haematology, Microbiology, Serology,   Histopathology and Transfusion medicine. The laboratory also offers all emergency tests with a very short turn around time.

Biochemistry laboratory

Biochemistry is equipped with Automated Analyzer, Semi Autoanalizer,Blood gas analyzer, Electrolyte analyzer. The Department investigates from Glucose to Thyroid profile, Electrolytes, Liver Function Tests, Lipid Profile etc.,

Surgical Pathology & Cytology laboratory

The surgical pathology and Cytology section reports on the extracted tissue or cells from suspicious lesions through a special needle. Accurate cytology results have facilitated to reduce the number of open biopsies and surgeries done at the hospital.

Micro Biology laboratory

The department carries out a variety of test for the diagnosis of infectious conditions including routine serological tests like Widal, VDRL, RA factor, C – reactive protein, Anti Streptolysin-O, HIV, Hepatitis B & C.

Function Testing & Diagnostic Services

The diagnostic facilities offered by Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College & Hospital are comprehensive including imaging, cardiology, Endoscopy and Pulmology.

Pulmonary Function and Stress Test Laboratory

Pulmonary function and stress testing offer a non – invasive way of evaluating the lungs and the heart and also in identifying high risk individuals who need further testing , treatment or changes in the work environment.
Facilities include ambulatory 24 hours ECG monitoring for accurately detecting heart beat abnormalities

Blood Bank Services

Our Blood Bank is responsible for the safe supply of blood and fractionated blood products for transfusion. In addition to screening blood donors for infectious diseases such as HIV, Malaria, VDRL and Hepatitis B, it has introduces routine testing for the lethal Hepatitis C Virus, using advanced technology.

Endoscopy Department

Our Endoscopy Department is equipped with the Olympus Endoscope to perform complicated diagnostic studies and procedures like ERCP, management of oesophageal varices  and to obtain biopsies, etc.,

Department of Cardiology

All types of complicated cardiac cases treated in the ICU, which is fully equipped for beside procedures including temporary pacemaker implant procedures.

Hematology Department

Our Haematology Department has facilities for testing all Haematology profiles. The department is very patient friendly and  the interest of patients requiring chronic transfusion is looked after. The department is also  performing bone marrow aspirations and biopsies.

Department of Radiology and imaging Sciences

Radiology department has MRI Unit,Helical CT Scan,Mammography Unit,Digital Subtraction Angiography,Image Intensifiers,Siemens 800 mA  Units, 500mA  Units, 300mA  Units,100mA  Units, 60mAUnits,Portable X-Ray Units,and 30mA  Units.

In addition there are  Colour dopplers  and Ultrasonograms.

With MRI and Helical CT Scan excellent results are offered and contrast imaging services are routinely carried out by radiologists of repute and experienced technicians.

Ultrasonography, which uses sound waves to image the body, is the imaging modality of choice in obstetrics. Pregnant women undergo routine ultrasonography for evaluation of the foetus, especially foetal growth retardation and malformations.Ultrasound scanning is also an excellent means of evaluating the liver, kidney, thyroid, prostate and the orbit. Colour Doppler studies help in the diagnosis of various vascular diseases.
